Netflix series podcast recaps: 100 Years of Solitude

People in funeral attire walk through a carpet of yellow flowers

Here is the landing page for all of Steve and Lindsey's podcast recaps of the 16 episodes of the Netflix series 100 Years of Solitude.

The series is based on the magical realism book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez that's considered a supreme achievement in world literature. The books recounts the saga of seven generations of the Buendía Family in the fictional town of Macondo. Netflix released season one on December 11, 2024. Season two is planned to release in two parts: August 5, 2026 and August 26, 2026, respectively.

Netflix has tried to respect the legacy of Marquez by collaborating with the author's sons, keeping the dialogue all in Spanish, and casting all Colombian actors. Marquez famously did not want his book adapted, so we have to wonder if this decision would pain him. In either case, his son's decided they could support this endeavor and made it into a TV series instead of a movie.
