A worthy player, but the ability roll on the new Dungeons & Dragons movie doesn't add up to a franchise

[L-R]: Simon Page as SIMON, Sophia Lillis as DORIC,Chris Pine as EDGIN, Michelle Rodriguez as HOLGA in DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is an entertaining blend of comedy, heist, action, and fantasy put out by Paramount Pictures. In my full review, I talk about the merits of the film but also about the lack of fantasy movies these days. Only time will tell if this movie has that secret sauce to make it anything more than an entertaining stop on the map.

The movie is co-directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night) with additional writing credit given to Michael Gilio.

Starring: Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Regé-Jean Page, and Hugh Grant

Description: Fresh out of prison, Edgin the bard and his trusty sidekick Holga the barbarian set out to reclaim his daughter and an object of power that promises new hope for his family.

Final score:3.5 out of 5
