Here they are folks, the movies I must see each and every Christmas season. This is as necessary as breathing air to me. Some of the movies are just plain entertaining. Some of them are family favorites and remind of my younger childhood days when Christmas was truly magical. And some of them just make me laugh. Here's the list, in no particular order.1. White Christmas
It has Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby cross dressing so the REAL sisters can get away. Full of wonderful songs and fantastic dancing, Berlin never sounded so good. Music showman partners hook up with two beautiful blondes to try to make a happy Christmas for an ex-Army general and a ski lodge that's going under due to "no snow." When it finally snows at the end, don't be surprised if your tears ainta falling with it.
2. Scrooge
Forget every other version of the Christmas Carol, Scrooge has the dignified Albert Finney singing and dancing in the streets of London. I love to watch this one on Christmas Eve with my little sister. Alec Guinness is particularly funny as Marley. The songs will get stuck in your head, I promise.
3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
No, my movies are not all musicals. Almost everyone I know loves this movie. Cousin Eddie would be my favorite character. He wears a sweater with a dickey--now that's style!
4. Garfield Christmas Special
"Do you want to do chores? Eat breakfast? Or open presents?" Which do you think the boys choose to do first? Also, Jon's granny shows us how to sing "O Christmas Tree" the proper way. And hear your favorite story, "How Binky the Clown Saved Christmas!" It's only 30 minutes, but it's worth it. Get ready to rewind and watch certain scenes again.
5. Charlie Brown Christmas
Ah, yes, the perennial favorite. We all love Charlie Brown's dumb old tree, even when its few pine needles continue to shed. Most shocking of all is that *gasp* the Bible is quoted. Yes, I know, how offensive, but the networks continue to air it every year.
8. The Christmas Story
My fond memories of this movie began when we watched it during school hours. All he wants is his BB gun, for cryin' out loud. Just give it to him. From triple dog dares to leg lamps to Christmas dinner eaten in a Chinese restaurant, there are enough comedic, touching, and bawdy moments to please viewers of any age.
